Wait list

What's the official position on this?

I booked 2 y flex tickets to gva for skiing in March 2014 and as expected no j availability.

I emailed and asked to be wait listed and ek have said no...this is not what happened to a friend of mine who managed to waitlist for an upgrade on a flight to JFK recently...

I also asked about the 2 guaranteed seats for golds, no response on that point yet...

Skywards gold really isn't worth much these days!

Sometimes they will and sometimes they won't. Not much difference really as they won't automatically deduct miles and upgrade you if its become available anyway

You need to call - not sure if writing will help. If they can't/ won't wait list you now, wait a couple of days before trying again.

There is - at least was until the first half of the year. Perhaps it depends on how full the flight....

Has he taken the flight yet? The seat will show as confirmed but the miles need
to be deducted before you can make the journey.

I doubt that very much as a BP can't be issued without the ticket being reissued in the new class of travel. Having said that, I don't get surprised anymore so perhaps it did

I know that there is a waitlist capability as I have been on it several times. Having said that though, I was always dealing with my local EK office and not DXB.

I've got an EF seat alert.

Seat map looks empty in J and it shows good availabilty both ways.

I've asked for the 2 gold seats to be released to no avail.

Good test of trying to upgrade 5 months out...
