Purchase an upgrade...
I'm on ek 20 in j on 20 dec...thought I'd see how much to change to ek 17 and do the 380 in f or change to f on my flight... Here is what it came up with

Not too bad for 2 adults 
Got quoted something like 25k USD for AKL-MEL-SIN Y to F for 1, but in all fairness the first option was spot on (about 1.5k USD) and the second one routed through SYD and MEL giving that ridiculous price.

I was going to buy F for CMB next week, but its only 4 hours and we're in J...I looked it up and then thought that's cheap...then I converted to pounds and thought maybe not! Also might be some op ups as flights are packed....
