Through Check-in

Hi folks,

So here is my query:

I live in Chennai, India. My wife and I are planning a trip to Johannesburg in April 2014. As we are getting a very good fare Colombo-JNB-Colombo on First Class, we would like to route the ticket on Emirates from Colombo. For the MAA-CMB-MAA sector, I was planning on buying tickets on Sri Lankan separately.

My question is, does anybody know if Sri Lankan does through Check-in for Emirates in Colombo and vice versa? I called the Sri Lankan Office in Chennai who were clueless and insisted I check their website which had no information. I tried calling the Sri Lankan office in CMB, but no response there either.

I would appreciate if someone has any idea on this? It would save me the hassle of going through check-in, Immigrations and customs in CMB on the Outbound and Return.

Cheers,

Dinshaw.

You can always check in online.

You will have to collect your bags and check in again as it is separate tickets.

Is this a SriLankan Airlines rule?

There is an interline agreement between the two companies so they have the ability to book bags right through if you can show the SriLankan check in staff your EK paperwork.

They may however have a local rule that prohibits this.
