Poll: Skywards Redemption
Hi guys,
I was over the BA boards and noticed the echo of people saying it's hard to find redemption seats for upgrading or purchasing using miles. So I have a poll for you:
Would you rather
- Skywards stays the way it is, with only certain code types available for upgrade with miles or purchase using miles (including the hassle of having to set up Alerts etc) OR
- If there is an available seat in a certain class and you have enough miles you can have it.
Now, Emirates wouldn't make as much money out of this as everybody would be taking up the premium seats. So to make it more fair, let's say the cost of redemption is 4times the amount of miles required now, but the rate of earning is the same. So you will have to travel 4 times the amount, but once you have the miles, as long as the plane isn't fully booked, you can get a seat.

I would say 100% stay the way it is, even if it was double I would rather it stay the way it is. I don't have much problem booking rewards seats and even got a J-F on EK1 4 weeks out.
I don't think this would work for EK either as the busy routes where they can normally make a packet by selling the majority of premium seats, would then be taken up by 'reward seats' and the less premium routes left empty, where there is currently more 'reward seats' available.
I've only done reward upgrades from J-F, but Y to J must surely be easier?
