Op ups

Does it matter when a person checks in as regard the op up chances are concerned? If a flight has 2 platinums and only one open F class seat who gets it?

Is one Platinum "higher" than the other? If yes, how is that measured?

The one with LESS tier miles is obviously higher.

They still need to boost your loyalty compared to the more loyal suckers so they will keep op-upping you.

I suspect it will still be driven by first letter of last name in most cases.

At DXB or across all the outstations - previously, there seemed to be no consistency but I am hoping there should be...

It is in plan to be done in order io/plat/gold/silver

The tier miles will decide between tiers to see who on the same tier gets the op up.

It's fair for everyone then.

There will always be the manual over ride for good reasons. This will still be abused at certain outstations I'm sure.

Or ignored - as it appears to be now because based on reports from others there does not seem to be consistency throughout the network whatever the rules are at present. I guess that is assuming that there are any rules and it is not simply up to each station manager to do as he or she pleases.

The weirdest thing is that almost all my J-F op ups happened on tickets that were paid Y and then upgraded to J using miles and hardly any on paid J.

I've had several on paid J and they have been far more than those that I've upgraded to J on a Y fare.

Don't expect this to happen well be implemented until next year and in line with the 5 buckets or so for j 5 for y and 2 for f.

Expect much more varied pricing dependent on these tickets too.
