Seat assignment on connecting flight
I am off to OZ again next week.
When I check in at Heathrow I will, as usual, be given boarding passes for both flights, the 004 LHR-DXB(Y) and the 434 DXB-BNE(J).
Obviously I can change my seat assignment on the 004 at that time. Can I also change my seat on the 434 at that time, at Heathrow. Or can I only do that in DXB?
I want to get into the mini cabin, say row 6, which seats arent typically assigned until check-in.
Thank you.

Ime, blocked seats for a connection are under airport control Dubai, and not under the control of the check-in agent at the outstation. They will need to call DXB to get those seats released, and I've read some posts where the check-in staff have called up DXB to get those seats but that is the exception and not the rule.
