Flex reward ticket validity
I've always believed that a flex reward ticket is valid for 12 months from the date of departure. This morning however when calling EK AUS to check on a matter relating to a current reward ticket I was advised that the ticket is only valid for 12 months from the date of issue 
. The agent said that 'but because you booked it online through us, we will honour it for 12 months from the first departure date'.
Is this for real or a simple case of misinformation?

12 months maximum stay according to the program rules, so not 12 months from purchase unless you purchased it on the same day as you travelled outbound.
