How Do I Get Seat Assignment?

I'm flying CMB-DXB-LHR-SFO in a couple months; all in F. I made the reservation on the EK website and am flying EK for the first 2 legs. My LHR to SFO flight has an AA flight number but is on BA metal. I have my seats selected for the EK flights, but not sure who to contact for the LHR - SFO leg.

Do I contact AA and give them my EK confirmation; or contact BA and give them my EK confirmation; or contact EK to see if they can give me a AA or BA confirmation number that I can use on their (AA or BA) website to reserve my seat. Thanks for your help.

Have you tried checkmytrip.com?

If you can find the BA reference on there, you should be able to choose a seat on the BA.com site.

I tried entering my 6 character confirmation and checkmytrip said they were unable to locate it. They were also unable to find a UA confirmation that I have.

Any other ideas?

If you phone any one of EK, AA or BA , it should be able to tell you the booking reference for the BA flight

If you go to http://www.britishairways.com/travel...agent_bookings and put the details in , including the Emirates reference, the BA system may well be able to find your booking for you

Do you hold status within OneWorld, since BA's seat policies may impact what you want to do

If in 1st class, then fine, selecting seats is easy

Unless you hold OW status , only bookings in J & C classes in business, W in premium economy and Y and B in economy can select seats in advance

If you have OW Ruby status, you can iirc do seat selections within 7 days of departure
OW Sapphire/Emerald can do at any time before the flight

Thanks Dave. I'll try giving the various entities a call. I don't have any OW status, but I'm flying in First, so I'm guessing it won't be a problem.

Try the BA link 1st ; that is the manage my booking link for flights booked by agents and can find bookings from other airlines' booking references

In 1st class ( I missed that before ), then should be no issue selecting a seat

I think you should be able to call BA and they would be able to find your reservation. If not just call EK first, get the BA reference number and then call BA back.
