equipment changes
How quickly do you find out about these?
Do they show them a few days before and you know via the seat map or are most changes last minute swaps?
In my experience its when I get on the plane and its "deeply reclining" not J lie flats so I guess mine have been last minute ones....

IME, if it is a 'long term' change, you will get to know several weeks in advance - I got to know we were flying the A380 insted of 777 when Airbus preponed the delivery of its A380 and EK deployed it on DXB-JFK in August instead of Sep 2008. Also when EK kept postponing upguaging EK029/030 to A380 from a 777.
However, it is an 'opportunistic' or 'operational' change (substituting a 77L in place of 77W or one of the older aircraft with skycruisers instead of suites), you will only get to know about it when the flight leaves DXB.

As the above poster mentions is correct and the only way of knowing what is coming your way. Check flightradar24.com to see what the reg of plane leaving DXB is and you will know (check fleet thread on this site) what you will get

You can't do that out of DXB as that is the place where the change happens and you will only find out at check-in or when you see the aircraft.
