Perhaps they use the "All-pay" type of auction in which all bidders have to pay over the amount of their bid but only the highest bidder wins?

I phoned Skywards early this morning, and they confirmed that I had in fact been awarded two tickets, sure definate ?? Absolutely.
So I phoned the friend that they were for, and gave him the good news, he was delighted.
I have just got in from work, to find that actually, no I didn't win and the miles have been creditted to my account.
Now I have to tell him that actually he's NOT going to the football !
This is poor to say the least.

4 or 5 calls (each about 15 minutes long) so far, no help, other than a promise that someone will get back to me, by phone or email, and of course no one has.
The UK team and the Call centre team (I suspect somewhere on the sub continent) can't help, and have to pass it on to the rewards team, I beleive in DXB. It is they according to the last agent I spoke to who are not doing anything.
That doesn't easy my embarrasment.
