The Upgrade Email Thread

I couldn't find anything like this so please forgive me if it already exists but I thought it might be useful for people to post their upgrade email offers with amount, route, skywards status and if they accepted the offer. I will start!

It's not bad I suppose - at just above US$800. And given that you couldn't buy the miles (ie you need 57,500 for a one-way based on a Saver fare or 45,000 on a Flex fare), I would probably do it.

Go for it! 14 hour flight, done it on EK J&Y, MH Y (10 years ago), J is definitely worth it IMO.

Just got the email in my inbox a week ago:

DXB-CMB Y(Saver) Skywards Blue AED600.00.

I've gone for it - 0245 departure after 7 hours in Y from LHR, sleeping potential is worth it.

It used to, but I think this loophole has been closed.

Perhaps they will after the new tier is introduced with the current gold benefits and the gold benefits drop back to the current silver ones. New top tier will then not get them.

I know this if off topic but if they give golds silver benefits ie no business check in then I will be really annoyed. 50k tier miles is not easy to achieve when you pay it all yourself!

If any golds get these emails please speak up!

Oh, that's interesting. I was under the impression that Gold members were always excluded from the upgrade emails. I've never got one in my 7 years as gold. What route/ cost is the upgrade?

Was CGK-DXB for 439 USD on Y Flex for today.

Interesting: I just booked this date (CGK-DXB / 24th Jan) as I had to chose one as on my planned return no J was available. I changed the booking a few days later (on around the 15th) to another date with a J fare.
Means: The upgrade offer mail was useless as I didn't even had the flight anymore in my itinerary.
Well, ...
