Changing upgraded flight

Hi all

Quick Q, i have an economy saver ticket that i have upgraded to business using miles and i need to change the flight date by 24-48 hours. Can i do this without losing the upgraded seat? Happy to pay any fees just dont want to lose the upgrade.

Thanking you!

Dino

Your original upgrade is irrelevant in this case. You need to find upgrade availability on the new date.

Thanks Zol. Assuming that there is availablity on the later date for an upgrade reward, do you know if A) EK will transfer my upgrade to the new flight date or B) i'll lose the upgrade, but not the eco fare, and have to use more miles to upgrade again? My point is, if it costs me another 37,000 miles to upgrade the new eco flight then i wont bother but if costs $100 or something, then i will. The cost of the miles far outweighs the cash in my case.

Thanks

If there is no availability for the upgrade on the new flight, then the miles will be returned to the skywards account that they came from unless the miles used have passed their expiry date

If you are not sure if the miles are expired, EK reservations will be able to confirm whether they are or not before you make the change

If there is availability for the upgrade on the new flight, the upgrade will come across ( though miles expiration may apply )

EK will refund the miles to your account in full (if they haven't expired), rebook you on the new date in Economy and then upgrade you again using the same miles

Thanks guys for your input. I've subsequently been speaking with EK bookings, as this has got a little convoluted and my confidence in EK Accra to make corrections was zero! They've said that my flex fare was a lower cat which means to change my business ticket (full fare) would cost me $1,000 more...this is rip off central!! I know flex and saver only matter on miles but it's just a rip off. I can't stand airlines

Its not really a rip off. You bought a ticket for a particular fare and now that fare is no longer available for your new dates hence you have to upgrade to the next highest fare.
