Delayed comepensation

Hi

I have just started flying with Emirates and had a fantastic 1st time experiance travelling in club from LHR->BLR, couldn;t have been better, very impressed with the A380, the enetrinment, the food, the staff, the car customer collection service...basically everything, so thinking that they are better than BA, I booked 2 future flights with them on the same routing, with one of them being from LGW.

All the same prices, reasonable fares, but then what I thought was a great airline, suddenly started to crack.

The flight from LGW, an old plane, no bed, which arrived 17 mins late into DXB, so they bumped me from my connection, even though there was no delay in me getting to the gate " Sorry Sir, we can;t put you on the flight, you need to be delayed by 15 hours", just a stone wall, no explanation nothing, this was found out when I was boarding the plane. Also if you want to stay at the hotel WITH your luggage, there is an approx 1 to 1.5 hour wait. Its was then midnight.......

Right, so next availabe flight follwoing day, fine, missed an entire days of meetings, I need to change my flight to get back a day early becuase you changed my planes - no can do Sir, you have to pay the 300 change fee and the 450 fare class change.

Fine, get on my delayed 15 hour flight to BLR - sorry, PVT only works in economy, no we ran out of veggi options, no you need to sit next to the crying baby, no your baggage is quite literally the very last to arrive which takes a solid hour.

Right then, a friendly worded complaint sent to the customer services dept., yes please have 20,000 miles....is that acceptable ? BA has refiunded my ticket for less serious breaches of service.

I write this awaiting my 3rd, and probably final flight on Emirates by choice, which is currently 32 minutes delayed on incoming, no idea what the delayed take off would be and if I have another 15 hour wait with no luggage before me..

Sorry to sya, but at least BA although not as good product againts the A380, is far more consitent and understaing to the biz travveller, which when you need realibility is what matters the most.

....

Sadly, this is their usual policy in case of rebookings due to delay. You have to accept whatever they offer you and if you want something else, you will be charged extra. They do however usually give you a bunch of "goodwill" miles when they do this.

As far as missing a flight goes due to being delayed, a hard cut off is no different to BA's hard cut offs at heathrow.

It is annoying when it happens, but what EK did at DXB is no different to how BA works in London

As far as vegetarian options - did you actually order a vegetarian meal?

That there were babies on a flight - well so what , that can happen on any airline

I am lost on why you needed to come back a day early due to getting there late however making the change coming back will require paying the appropriate fees

I would find it v surprising and unlikely that BA would refund a ticket due to a delayed flight causing a missed connection
