It needs to be on 176 ticket stock and there is a minimum fare requirement.

It can also be on flights marketed by Qantas as per the link.

Carrier charges alone would likely be over the minimum fare even without taking into account points.

Seeking advice as this will be the first time. I have a first class connection with a 7.5 hour layover The booking gave me the link to request a connect service and that has been done. I have the ‘collect voucher at check in message’. No hotel details.

What are the chances that it will be the airside hotel? I really don’t want to enter UAE as I am travelling on a passport that is not normally used for the Middle East. Also more practically 7 hours including transfers and security etc isn’t doesn’t give much time.

Would a first class lounge be better? The C one was rather limited, the B one was much larger but when on a quick connection this week I could not see any cabanas or places to nap.

I would appreciate advice from those with more knowledge. Thank you

No chance of an airside hotel. The airline will sort out a visa for you (can be done in advance on MMB or at the DC desk at DXB. It’s quick and easy). No, the F lounge will not be better, but for seven and a half hours it’s borderline. Food in the lounge is good, and plenty of space, but the sleeping options are not hotel room standard.

If you really don't want to leave airside, look into the Dubai International Hotel which offers a 3-6 hour package that should work for your purposes - https://www.dihdxb.ae/

Without a passport issue I'd absolutely just book a hotel near the airport (Le Meridien, Grand Hyatt, IC Festival City, Marriott Marquis are all decent five star hotels that are less than 15 minutes away and can be picked up cheaply).

Emirates handles the visa for you. As said prior, the hotel will absolutely not be the airside hotel.

If you read through this thread you will see the two properties currently being used for J/F are Le Meridien and JW Marriott Marquis. I was last through in February in F and was put up at the JW. They will give you the voucher at check in. 7.5 hours is definitely borderline worth it when you consider all of the steps to get to and from the airport you probably have 4 hours max in the room at the hotel.

thank you all, I will see if I can book the airside hotel myself

Hi all,

I have a return journey booked in Business Class on Emirates: MAA–DXB–LHR, with a 20-hour layover in Dubai, which makes me eligible for Dubai Connect.

I’d really prefer to be placed at the JW Marriott Marquis, and I know Emirates sometimes assigns different hotels based on availability.

Does anyone know if there’s a pattern to how hotels are allocated? For example, if I request Dubai Connect now for my trip in August, am I more likely to be placed at the closest available hotel (e.g. Copthorne, Le Meriden), whereas if I wait and request closer to the travel date, I might have a better shot at JW Marriott? Or is it the other way around?

Would love to hear from others who’ve tried different timing strategies for this.

Thanks!

It would be Le Meridien and JW for J and F. Copthorne I believe is for Y. I don’t think assignment actually happens until very close to the date. My view is that Le Meridien is the EK preference and JW the spillover, but that’s just a guess. I’ve only been assigned to JW twice, but that suits me as I prefer the Le Meridien.

With 3 flights daily from MAA and 6 to LHR there's always going to be a connection which disqualifies you from Dubai Connect. If you've got lucky then I wouldn't contact them in case you draw attention to this.

I believe EK is not enforcing the fastest connection rule anymore. Had it on EK501 (6 am arrival into DXB) connecting to EK203 (2:35 am dep ex DXB next day). JW Marriott Marquis for me.

That’s what I initially thought too. However, once I completed my booking, the Dubai Connect option appeared under “Manage My Booking.”

My guess is that since the London departure is at 20:40, the earliest possible connection to Chennai is around 14:50. That creates a layover well over 6 hours, which meets the minimum for Business Class eligibility.

So it seems like as long as you pick any Chennai-bound flight with 08:40 London departure, the itinerary becomes eligible for Dubai Connect.

Just my assumption though—I could be completely wrong!

Hi, a quick question (I hope). If I've requested the Dubai Connect service on my booking, and it came up saved and shows as something that I can manage on the booking, what are the chances they'll decide that there's a reason to disqualify me, and when would I know? Technically there is a quicker connection that my 8 hour layover, but my booking said I was eligible, so I requested it and it *looks* like it's gone through. (I'm flying AKL - DXB - LIS)

If its showing in MMB then you shouldnt have any problem. I have had this before when technically I wasnt eligble for it as there was a shorter connection, but it showed in MMB and i confirmed it and when i arrived in DXB there was no issue at all. Other than being allocated a horrible hotel in Deira which i ended up not staying in. I cant remember the name of it, but it was an economy booking that I had upgraded so I was only allowed to have the original class of service hotel
