Will I get accomodation

I am flying MAN to SGN on 20 October. EK18 arrives at 0030 and EK390departs at 0915 so I have over 8 hours at DXB. Will I get accomodation?

EK20 connects better (leaving MAN at 2100) but is only available as full fare which is beyond what my employers will pay.

You will not unfortunately as there is an option in EK 20 with a shorter stopover which you opted not to take

Have they booked?

EK20/390 has better availability on 20th October than your flight at the moment.

Thought that would be the case.

So my supplementary question is - what do I do in Dubai for 9 hours (overnight). I'm not sure it is worth getting a hotel as I would have to go off airport which means clearing immigration etc and getting shuttle and then doing the same thing in reverse, which leaves the lounge option (am only silver so won't get the free one at the moment) - do you think I woudl be able to stay for the amount of time I need?

It's a pity it is middle of the night as I have a friend who works for Jumeirah but I can't ask her to meet me at 2am!

but that doesn't give me any time to recover from jet lag etc before teaaching 9-6 on Monday hence leaving on 19th. (I'm flying out to Vietnam to teach 9-6 m-f then flying back Friday night (26th) and then flying to Kuala Lumpur on Monday 29th - before anyone asks whi I'm not flying from HCMC to KL, I have to conme back for a job interview (which they have moved for me from the Friday) - original plan was to take a few days off and see a bit more of Vietnam but that has had to be canned).

There is an airside hotel that you can book for a few hours. That would probably be the best option.

do I get a free hotel for 10 hour Dubai layover?

hi, I'm looking at flying from Sydney to Venice on EK413 ... arrive Dubai 05:15am (Syd - Dubai) and then connecting with EK137 ... depart Dubai 15:45pm (Dubai to Venice) .... but there is a 10 hour layover between the flights.... Does emirates provide me with free hotel for this length of layover?

thanks

Daniel.

No you will not as you have the option of taking EK135 to VCE which leaves at 09:50 or alternatively coming in on EK415 from SYD which arrives at 13:20

airside hotel is the way to go. a bit expensive but have used it a number of times on 10 hour layovers and managed a good 7 hours sleep each time.

Thanks, even if travelling business or first, is there no hotel for 10 hour layover in the above flights?

What about on the way back, EK136 (Venice to Dubai) .... EK 412 (Dubai to Sydney) .... 10 hour layover?

The same rule applies to all three cabins. Only difference is minimum connection time for F&J is 6 hours and they get 5* whereas its 8 hours for Y in a 4* equivalent.

Again on the way back if you have other options then you will not get the hotel.

is the connection/layover time (and eligibility for a hotel) dependent on the time of arrival in Dubai, or based on the departure/destination in general?

ie. since a 6am flight leaves Sydney for Dubai with a very short layover (if I'm going to Venice) .... then does that automatically exclude any other eligibility (for ex Sydney departures) for a layover hotel even if I do not want to leave at 6am?

Apart from the airside hotel there are also those sleeping cubes that were recently introduced - haven't tried one but it's probably the most cost effective way of sleeping in the airport and getting a good rest.

That sounds a good idea - what / where are they?

I've used the airside hotel at KUL and it was godd value - basic but tha tis all I need. The 5* in DXB is way beyond what I need and so I don't feel I can spend (my employer's) money on it.
