Having been a loyal emirates business/first class flyer for a few years, a recent trip to New York meant that I had to use BA. I had considered routing via dxb, but my client would have passed out when I told them the cost!
I was quite interested to see how other airlines bus products/service stacked up against EK, so was quite excited. I know that sometimes we all have our little niggles with EK, however I think from my recent experience with BA I have been a little spoilt by EK.
BA lounge versus EK lounge - EK wins...on the basis that I couldn't find any champagne at BA (I know it was there somewhere), and the food choice at BA was full meal or a packet of crisps.
BA crew versus EK crew - EK wins....I know I was on a sleeper service from NY to LHR, but when I wake up and try to get a drink of water, it should not take 20 mins.
BA meal service versus EK - EK wins......BA, slop on a plate...you could still see the tin foil marks on the food
BA seat versus EK seat - hard one this....I think they are comparable, the only thing I missed was the massage function!! (I am only 5"2 so most seats fit me!!!)
When all is said and done, BA have convinced me that I still love emirates, and whilst they are not perfect, I would take EK over BA anytime!

Totally understand and agree. Once you sample the EK way in F, you become very wary of other airlines. Having tried BA F, the Concorde lounge (where the staff felt as if they're just doing their job), EK is on a completely different level, BA don't cut it.
I just booked for myself a EK F long haul after weighing against it QR and EY in J/F. Couldn't help but lean towards the value of Skywards miles. Will have enough for a BEY-AU return in F, after having redeemed one for my wife just few months ago.

Dear finallyhitgold.
I couldn't agree more and all those folks in this conversation, Emirates is the best airline in the world and it already comes to that point that I will purchase an apartment in Dubai soon, just for having more reasons to fly with Emirates. :-)
Has anyone here considered to quit his job just for being part of Emirates? Or is it insane?

Cathay Pacific, the best thing of Cathay Pacific is the advertisement. Even when the recession just came, they figured out that they are not selling out their flight tickets, so they started to sell their airplanes and send their employees on unpaid vacations.
Truth to be told, there are also many people who are into Cathay Pacific.

Traveled BA F; EK F; CX F, the past week and following are my observations:
SEAT: all are quite comfortable; Prefer CX for its no-bling suite; Prefer BA's colors; Prefer EK's bar
LOUNGE: EK's DXB is notch above CX's HKG but any day prefer CX's more comfortable shower room!
IFE: EK has an edge over CX and CX has an edge over BA
SERVICE: all were good w/subtle cultural differences
FOOD: all were good; BA's beef, EK's lamb, CX's Chinese...
AMBIANCE: CX has an edge over EK (EK felt little claustrophobic) and BA felt bit like business class cabin
If all there were on the same route and there is big fare difference I will go for the lower fare one. If all there were on the same route and there is negligible fare difference I will go for CX
2 cents....

This is very interesting. I used to fly EK all the time and have to say I was always usually always very impressed with the punctuality and service. But after two trips in J between JNB and DXB in 2010 and Mar 2012 in what can only be described as antediluvian seating, I decided to stop using them. These seats have to be seen and experienced to be believed! They pre-date the old cradle seats in BA's fleet from the 90s and to add insult to injury, on my last flight the recline function was broken. It was a great pity, as the crew were genuinely apologetic about the dinosaur seating. And to be fair, on the flight back from DXB to JNB, it was an A-380 with new J. Now THAT is really excellent, at least as good as BA NF. Such a pity they ruin things by utilising such archaic equipment on certain flights, especially extremely high volume routes such as JNB-DXB. I really can't understand why they don't just bin those old seats; it's not as if they can't afford it!

Recently flew LH F on the 74H and the A343
Love the seat even though it is not as private as EK's suites, the finishing and the colours are way much more appealing to EK's bling. The electric ottoman is also brilliant.
Service can be a bit cold though. And they don't warm your nuts (lol), as well as not setting your cutlery. Also they don't align the salt and pepper shakers so that the S & P are facing you (non issue, but EK does align logos to face you).
But hardware wise I really love the LH F product. The food can be a bit sub par (avoid the pastas), but I love the Pommery Louise 1999 champagne. It's really light which is great for guzzling while on board.

Possibly, but it may not be entirely inaccurate for much longer
Now, Dubais own Taj Mahal
Nearly four times bigger than the original, Taj Arabia will be a near replica of Indias famous monument
DUBAI: It took Mughal emperor Shah Jahan 22 years to build the Taj Mahal. But Dubai developers are planning to construct a bigger version of it in just two years.
Taj Arabia, a replica of the 360-year-old marble mausoleum, will be about four times the size of the original, developers said at the Cityscape Global event in Dubai.
The billion dollar project will be set in the heart of the 41 million square foot Falcon City of Wonders on Emirates Road. Taj Mahal is an epitome of love and romance and Taj Arabia, which is expected to be ready by late 2014, will be no different. It will celebrate the union of couples by serving as the worlds grandest wedding destination.

The service, the seat, food, no car service, and the ife sucked. Everything was definitely much worse than I expected. I heard CX F was great, but not with my experience. I guess once you get used to the EK services, anything less doesn't cut it.
Take a look at this from studioCX. Can you see what's wrong here?-

I sent this into the complaints dept and got no reply.
I've also flown SQ F, but even though they were pretty good, Emirates will win my business any day.

I completely disagree. CX F. Is better on all counts. Service is also superior, the lounges are fantastic and I dont feel teleported into a golden bling
cubbyhole.. And, no, I don't miss the vanity mirror
Why do front cabin pax rate the car service so highly, anyway, surely it's not such a big deal if one flies in J and, especially, F?
My corporate car service us just as good most times much better, and
my personal car and driver vastly superior in my home base
And
Let me reiterate that i think the hard product in business on CX and BA (among many others) is miles better than EK
I am wary when people keep rating an airline solely on F. This happened
to my erstwhile favorite airline LH which, while possibly niw having the best F hard product (seat lounge) has rubbish in J and Y.
