Question Emirates & Online Booking

Hello! Long time reader/admirer of these forums but first time poster. I searched to see if my issue has been answered/discussed before but cannot find anything with regards to Emirates. Basically I booked a ticket on the EK website last week with my US-based AMEX. I got a confirmation email, e-Ticket, was able to choose to my seats, everything on EK web site says confirmed, etc. It has been a week now but nothing is showing up on my AMEX charging activity. Should I be concerned or is EK just a bit slow? I realize it takes time for charges to post but the reason I'm concerned is because there's nothing showing up for activity under "Pending Charges". Not even the customary $1 pre-authorization. Has anyone else experienced this or have some insight? Your input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

nyc10019, welcome to posting on FlyerTalk!

As this is Emirates-specific, let me move this to the dedicated forum we have for this airline, for more discussion. Ocn Vw 1K, Moderator, TravelBuzz.

If your ticket is issued, I don't see why you should be concerned. Its EK's problem to get the money from AMEX.

I was recently concerned about the opposite ---- a ticket cancelled online a few hours after purchase, where the purchase posted instantaneously and the credit took more than a month to process (and required intervention by the credit card issuer to sort out). In my limited experience the emirates.com ticket facility is filled with annoying bugs and issues, of which you are currently a temporary beneficiary.

Happenned to me too. Bought tickets using AMEX, got e-mail confirmation that booking paid and complete, but nothing showing at AMEX for a little bit more than a week that there was any charge or pre-authorization. However, i noticed that my spending limit was lower than my credit max balance on the exact amount of the tickets price.

Sometimes EK can take 6 weeks to charge your card. It depends on which site used and where the tkt was issued. I usually get my tkts from the local Dubai site or the US site and am charged In a few days. But I got a tkt once on (I think it was the Egyptian site???) and it took 6 weeks. If you have a tkt issued w form of payment, don't worry. If it makes you feel better, call and reconfirm
