Price Decrease Possible

So I was in Dubai last week and having lunch with some folks. One of them mentioned that "a reliable source" had advised him that EK were considering dropping their fares system wide.

When? is anybody's guess. Why? Because according to this source, competitors have a much harder time gaining approval to increase/decrease prices than EK does.

Does it sound viable or even credible? Maybe.

Does it provide them with a competitive advantage? Probably. It certainly bolsters their cash registers (like the global 10% sale did) and gets people to act more quickly given the incentive...

I'll see if I can dig some more...

Given that they've just increased some fairs for some destinations, in addition to the fuel hikes, im not sure why they would back down so quickly.

At the risk of stating the obvious maybe but just maybe they have already noticed a drop in bookings as a result of their recent increases and realised that demand for their product is more price sensitive than they thought.

^

Although the spike in bookings around the global sale should have been a sign to EK just how price sensitive its travellers are!
