peak time strategy help!

I need to book my Xmas/New Year jaunt to DXB, and hell, yet again the prices are astronomical!
(And this is before BA announce their now annual holidays strike! )

I usually leave it till the last minute and have a panic on, so thought this time I would book ahead, pah, still blood expensive, anyone got any tips or insider knowledge to save me money

Check with skyscanner.com and look for connecting flights eg Turkish.

If you only want EK, start from Italy!

I don't know if you are looking for economy or biz; if biz and you have the miles required book Y and upgrade.

I obv dunno what dates you are looking at but there is availability ex LON at 568 around that period.
I hear there's another EK sale starting tomorrow but that may be just ex DXB.

MAN-DXB was about 700 when I checked last week. This was over Christmas and new year.

lol, I don't have a gorgeous house in the desert any other place hon!

they always play poker with the fares over this period, I usually panic and end up getting a fare from my tame travel agent instead, of direct online from EK.

I have been told from time to time they open windows of low(er) fares for a couple of hours on EK site, then they go up again.
Also the trick about clearing your cache before going back to travel sites, as it logs your visit and increases the fare!

Mo fo, just checked the site this am, the fare in Y has gone over a grand now!!!

after some more scrambling I managed to get a LGW -DXB for 768, which was the cheapest I could find.

I got that through booking via the Skywards members area, the same dates on the main EK site, came up over 1030, (business was 1630) and my tame travel agent was only showing 2 seats available on my return date, and still struggled to better my Skywards fare.
She told me the while first week of Jan. was jammed to London.

I shall never understand the complexities of the fare system!

I saw deals out of Manchester and Birmingham, nada out of London of course, and all the cash + miles deals are for DXB residents only.
The prices change each time you check, and there must be a trick to get the best fare out there somewhere but I wish I knew it!
