No, since your ticket will still be Y. But I suppose if you used points to upgrade from Y to J, you might then get an op-up from J to F. Does anyone have experience of this?

As far as I know, you cannot upgrade from economy to business then business to first with points.

Yes - twice! Used miles to upgrade from Y to J beforehand and was then op-upped to first -DXB/MEL and MEL/DXB on two separate occasions.

Yes, did/get it once on DXB-MUC. Upgraded myself with Points to J and then got an opup J-F (at the Gate).
