Emirates Foundation, YOU asked for it !
Doing a flight on Monday, Manchester - DXB - KUL, and decided to let the EK foundation have all of the old coins and notes that have amassed in my office, over the last 15 years of travelling.
Not weighed them up yet, but it's a sizeable pot of coins from around the World, most of which should be valid, how pleased do you thing the CC will be when I ask for about 200 of those little envelopes ?
In my defence, I DID email the foundation to warn them of my intentions !

I've found that barely half the Pursers even bother coming around to collect the envelopes anyway, so I've quit trying to offload my spare change there. There are other places who are more interested in accepting donations. The Emirates Foundation seems to be more about the PR aspect.

On a side note - being an amateur coin collector, i'm literally salivating at the thought of all those coins you write about!

I agree with B747 - they do not really seem to be interested in collecting the envelopes at most times. I'd personally direct my donations through a more eager and interested organization.

The purser was expecting me, so my email asking for some extra envelopes clearly got through, and she seemed genuinely pleased with the contribution, a huge bag of coins, and a wad of notes !
As I got ready for landing, she brought me a thank you card, signed by all of the cabin crew, in each of their own languages, which I thought was a nice touch !

It IS the little things that Emirates do that make the difference, and as for " a nice thing to do", not really, those coins were all just gathering dust, in my office, so better they are put to good use somewhere.
I am also a firm beleiver in what goes around comes around, and although NOT the reason I did it, if someone somewhere at EK takes note, and puts a little marker on my account that I sometimes do nice things, then it can't do any harm whatsoever, can it ?
