My wife and I are flying Emirates for the first time, we are flying out from Birmingham this Wednesday to Maritius via Dubai.

We are flying on a Boeing 777-300ER EK038, we will be checking in online tomorrow night, if anyone could advise me of the best seats to book or anything else of use I would be most appreciative.

Take a look at www.seatguru.com they list all of the seats and comments. Enjoy EK, they're a great airline

seatguru can be a bit outdated. The seat guide on the emirates manage your booking section has to be used along with seatguru. Check if the seat map is the same as the one on seatguru before you decide on the seat.

If you are flying in economy, aim to get to the airport as early as possible and request an exit row seat, if you want some extra leg room.

These are given out on a first come, first served basis from the opening of check in at the airport.

Go for the first of the pairs towards the rear. These seats have a few inches more legroom and can be selected if available.

I, too, am a pending first time EK flyer and would appreciate some advice on a few questions I have. I will be flying LHR-xDXB-BKK in F in several months time.

1. I purchased this multi-sector, multi-carrier, multi-class itinerary through an online agent just over two weeks ago. EK has confirmed that although the flights are confirmed, the agent has not ticketed them. (The EK flights are sectors three and four.) Is this a concern? Payment has been made to the agent, however, with money deducted from my account and e-ticket number (issued on the stock of the first carrier which is not EK) provided on the emailed confirmation.

2. As a first time EK flyer I am not familiar with the aircraft configs and it was only after booking that my research revealed I am on EK's one LHR-DXB flight a day that is serviced by a 777, not A380. It would also appear as though the particular 777 variety does not have what I understand to be new F. Are the F seats on the 777s still an adequate product?

3. Ideally, I would like to change to an A380 flight ex-LHR. Due to the connection out of BKK this would require departing LHR a day early and, hopefully, several hours in the DXB F lounge, both of which are perfectly fine with me. Is there anyway I can change the LHR-DXB flight with EK directly, rather than having to go through the online agent? Would EK accept a faxed approval or the like requesting they act, rather than the agent?

Other suggestions or ideas about maximising what is likely to be my only experience with EK are most appreciated. (I have noted similar threads in this regard.)

EK can not change an agent booking till after you've commenced the itinerary. You'll have to deal directly with the agent.

By 'commence the itinerary', does that mean the EK segments of the itinerary, or the itinerary's first sector? As mentioned above, the first EK sector is the third sector on the itinerary. If I can simply fly the itinerary's first sector and then contact EK, that would be fine.
