Darn it !

Just checked that my flight to DXB will go on time and the inbound flight to Manchester is running around 4 hours late. I will therefore miss my connection to Karachi tomorrow morning.

As I have people meeting me at the door of the plane, I thought I had better find out which flight I am likely to be on, so phoned EK to ask, and was told it was too early to say. Fair one, BUT when asked if they had a timetable so that I could look at the options, I was told no, EK costomer service do not have a timetable, and to look online.

Unbeleivable way to treat your first class passengers, and Skywards gold members. "Look it up yourself".

Charming !

It's alright though, EK have phoned to advise me of a "slight" delay, not that I call 4 hours "slight. They do require me to be there at the normal time in case things improve.

How pray tell can they improve when the plane is not due to leave Dubai for a good while yet, it's a A380, not a time machine !

A flight delayed by 4 hours could very well make it back to Dubai on time. Flying time could easily be an hour less than what the schedule says, and turn around can be sped up if they really want to. So you might even get to Dubai just one hour late. Or two. Or three. Which is why it's impossible to know which flight you'll connect to.

Due in here now at 16.35, and due to depart at 18.00, and booked onto a later connection, leaving at 08.00 instead of 04.35 which actually works out better.

There's no way a flight leaving DXB four hours late to MAN will make it back on time. Absolutely no chance WHATSOEVER.
