baggage allowance

NOTE TO MODS: posting orginally in Qantas section so re posting here. Sorry for the screwup

I am flying from Manchester Uk to Kochin India on Emirates. Flying Economy.
My baggage allowance is 30Kg I have 34kg (gifts for an orphanage). Is there anyway I will be able to do this without having to pay for extra baggage.

As most of you are well travelled your opinions/ideas would be most appreciated.

Thanks

You are allowed 7kg in cabin baggage as well as the 30kg you mention in the hold.

Your suitcase can weigh up to 32kg and I highly doubt they will say anything for a suitcase that is 2kg over. However, the additional 2kg will have to go in carryon as UK airports are pretty strict with the 32kg max per bag.

You could also try checking in 2 bags x 17kg but a really strict/crabby agent might try and charge you. I'd still say it's unlikely.

From my experience in MAN they are very very difficult when it comes to baggage allowance. I had an argument with them once flying J and was 7 kg over. I know I was above the limit and rules are rules but from my experience EK are known to be flexible with premium passengers. I ended up carrying the 7kg by hand....

Try your luck, if not hand baggage is ur only option. But as mentioned earlier you are anyway above the 32KG limit per piece which they won't let slide due to HSE.
