Why no EK to KTM?

I had always thought KTM was a low yielding route with limited demand so EK had just decided to pursue other more profitable destinations especially since its smallest plane is an A330.

However, QR just announced it's 4th (!) daily to KTM and other gulf airlines (GF,EY,WY) offer frequent service of 1-2 x daily.

Is EK missing out?

I found this http://www.airliners.net/aviation-fo....main/3818482/ which mentions security concerns and low yield as the primary issues.

Good question that I also have had difficulties to answer. Why does this route cannot be handled the Japanese routes where destinations are not flown daily. 3-4x week could be good ways to "test" the load, couldn't it?

I can't answer your question... but welcome back to the forum!

I assume you've starting flying with EK again these days?

Cheers,
Rick

Off an' on

I had significantly reduced my activity on all of FT for a while as school had become insanely busy. I have just finished submitting my applications to medical school so things have calmed down a bit!

Thanks for the welcome!

Good question. Note also that Flydubai has two flights per day.
