Emirates Upgrade query
I'm going Gla-Dxb-Per on the 16/06/11 and I've managed to upgrade to Business on the Gla-Dxb leg.
I'm allowed 40kgs on the Gla-Dxb leg but only 30kg Dxb-Per.
What's the chance that I would get away with the baggage excess charge on the Dxb-Per leg if I took 40kg on the first part of the journey.

Good chance - they SHOULD be ok with it, but as always, be prepared for the worst (meaning, packing the way you can take off some heavy things into hand luggage, but as it will be checked-through I really don't think it will be an issue, once it's off the belt in GLA you're good)

Upgrade Error Message
Hi,
I'm trying to upgrade my DXB-HYD sector, but the server says "Sorry, seats are not available on the flights you have selected. Please contact your nearest Skywards centre to complete the upgrade."
What does this message really mean? Are upgradable seats totally full? or do I have to try calling skywards, so they can finish the upgrade for me? I have enough miles for the upgrade, but not sure if seats are full or this is just an error message.

It is also possible that the cabin you want to upgrade to is full.
Usually the message I get is 'Sorry, there are no reward seats available in the next higher class for the flight(s) chosen. Please try again closer to departure.' I just keep trying daily and usually get the upgrade a few days before the flight. But your message is different so I am not too sure about your issue.
When are you flying? Which class are you travelling in ?

I have noticed this error message before but can't remember why it occurred. Check if an upgrade is available either on Expert Flyer or by looking for a Saver Reward in the classs you are trying to upgrade to. If it exists you can call Skywards to book it and they might explain the unusual error message.

Log into your Skywards account and enter data as if you were trying to book a reward ticket. If the next screen shows availability of a "Skywards Saver Reward" in the Business Class column next to your flight then an upgrade reward also exists, as they share the same booking code.
