Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8H7 Safari/6533.18.5)

EK 225 (DXB-SFO) and EK 215 (DXB-LAX) both diverted to YYZ today. I assume these were ash-related tech stops?

Sounds like they had to change their route somewhat, so needed to refuel.

Cheers,

Does anyone know if the stop in YYZ (EK 225 DXB-SFO) and the late departure of EK 226 (SFO-DXB) will become a routine thing during the volcanic event, or is this probably a one time thing ?

Out of curiosity, what is the metal that Emirates use on the DBX-GLA route?

It's a 2-class B777-300ER. Usually one of the older spec. ones with the deeply reclining Business Class seats rather than lie-flats.

Last year it was regular for the few days because they couldn't fly over the poles due to the ash

It's actually more often than not now a 2-class 777-300ER with new lie-flat seats.
