Yes he can but only if he has a boarding pass for a connected flight, if not then no way he's getting in any of the lounges.

Yes he does

We live in Riyadh, so he flies in has a wait of 5 hours, meets the kids, needs to go out through immigration (Kids to Milinium and him to a meeting) then they all fly back to Riyadh at 6pm.
So he should be able to just go back downstairs to immigration in the lift?

Or your husband could re-schedule a later flight and spend the extra hours in the lounge at the airport of origin ^

Yup no problems, He can go to any of the lounges which he is entitled to and wait until the kids arrive then leave the airport.

I assume he's taking the 4:20 flight and leaving on the 18 something flight.

I had a flight MLE-DXB-FCO once and had a stopover in DXB for over six hours, I had something to do in Dubai in the stopover time so went to the lounge, left my wife to rest over there, then I left the airport and came back within an hour, (I was also using the chauffeur drive for this).

thanks

He was on the 4.20 flight but it dosnt arrive until 7am, family arrives at 5am from NZ so he didnt want to miss them as they are newbies at doing this.
My husband has been saying that he will need to arrive Dubai and exit and meet the kids AFTER immigration.
I have been saying No go through to transit, have a sleep, shower whatever, get in the lift go downstairs and then meet the kids at immigration when they arrive.
He is adamant that he will be stuck in transit and not be able to exit??

should I say

He was on the 4.20 am flight the same day but because of the arrival times changed it to the flight the day before leaving Riyadh at 9.20 pm arriving midnight.

No he can still go to the lounge since he is coming back on the same day, he just needs to have the boarding pass that's all.

Once he arrives he should follow the connecting flights and go to the lounge if he has the boarding pass, once done he could leave the airport (just ask the info desk and they will show him where to go).

I did exactly this last week, so it will be fine. My routing was BAH-DXB-DMM, two separate tickets.

I arrived from BAH into DXB at about 10:00. The connecting flight to DMM was leaving at 20:00. I had the DMM flight boarding pass in my hand from the check in agent at BAH. I went to the lounge, ate breakfast, and showered. Then, I went back downstairs (you have to go backwards through the security, just say you want to go to immigration and it will be fine) through immigration and out into Dubai. Then, at about 18:00 I just entered the terminal like normal.

The only thing is my easy gate didn't work in the evening. The guy working told me that if you stay in Dubai less than 6 hours, it will flag an error. So, I had to show my passport, no worries.

Thanks

Thanks for your help.
Makes sense to me as last time I came through there was a stand offering Dubai day trips from Transit.
I get it, now to convince Hubby he will be fine..........
Do you know where the exit entrance is to get downstairs from Transit? Is it a matter of finding the lift?

To go back downstairs to immigration, just go down any of the escalators that are coming up (okay, take the down escalator next to the one coming up) from arrivals. These are spaced throughout the terminal.

Or just walk backwards through the main security that leads up from arrivals. Just tell the guards that you want to go to immigration. Then, take the elevator down (no down escalators here). This is in the center of the terminal, on the opposite side to the fountain and the large elevators.

It's very easy.

On the other hand, I once saw a gentleman walking back up the long escalator from arrivals down to immigration. I wouldn't recommend that...

Did the same today, worked perfectly.
