Pre-Op-up

Well this is a first.

I have a short flight in 12 hours, I have checked in online early this morning and as I went to online check-in again to change my seat I could see that our seats is given in the biz class section.

Though the ticket still shows that I'm in economy and even on the seat plan, the biz section is states as Economy.

Actually it was a short flight DXB-RUH but it was weird, we were travelling in Economy at 1st, the ticket was in Economy, even when we went to the plane they were classyfing it as a 2 class (First and Economy), they did not even close the curtains in the biz class cabin during the flight (only closed for First), everything about the flght was in Y except for the seat.

I don't think a single biz class ticket was sold for this plane because the whole of the cabin was treated as Economy.

Have experienced the same before on a business class flight, when I could pick a seat in the first class section. During flight no curtain and BC food in FC seats. Explanation was that they did not have a single booking for first class, so they opened that space up for any BC traveller.

On your flight to RUH, it could have been a 3-cabin replacement aircraft for the 2-cabin plane that normally serves that route.

They also do that quite often on flights that are normally 2 class, but are using a 3 class aircraft.

I bagged myself a nice Skycruiser F seat on a MAN-DXB a few years ago, despite being booked in J.

Cheers,
Rick

Actually it was always a 3 class aircraft, they were selling biz class seats 24 hours prior to departure, but as you said that they did not sell a single seat in biz that's why they op-up everybody, maybe the ones in first too were actually op-uped from biz.
