Red face Dubai Lounge...

Hi,
We will be travelling next week SYD-LGW. My husband has gold status, and I have silver, we are travelling economy.
I have used the business lounge in Dubai before, a couple of times, whilst travelling Business. I thought it was fab.
My husband...who I rarely travel with...has also used the lounge on a business ticket, and said it was awful...packed and no food.Is it possible he went to the wrong lounge? We always fly in and out of T3.
I think the one I went to was on an upper level, will a huge entrance. Could someone point me to the correct lounge? I can't find a map on the net. I just want to use the correct one..I know it wasn't Merhaba...
Any help would be great...thanks

Theoretically if you are in Silver and traveling Economy you will not be able to enter the Biz lounge in T3 with your husband (which is for Biz class travelers and Golds without guest privileges) but rather you will be directed to the Silver card holders lounge near gate 122 in Terminal 1. The lounge dragons in T3 may cut you a break if you are very polite and undemanding. With regard to crowds it is indeed the Biz Lounge in T3 that has become a zoo at many times of the day and in fact I often head to the lounge in Terminal 1 if my flight is leaving from that end of T3 or of course from one of the T1 gates.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by Golds without guest privileges. All golds are entitled to guest one other passenger on the same flight into the Business lounge, and that is applicable to the Business lounge in T3 as well.

To the OP, it is likely you and your husband went to the same lounge, but at different times. It can be an oasis of calm and tranquility but you are more likely to find a zoo when traveling around rush hour. I believe there are some quiet corners in the lounge but you need to look for them.

But there is always food available.... No matter what time or how busy the lounge is.

And the food is usually great

Cheers,
Rick

Thanks...

For your replies. I had assumed I could go into the lounge with my husband, as he is Gold, and he is supposed to be able to take any guest. If they don't let me in, I won't be going over to T1, as there is only 3 hours between flights, and Dubai can get very busy...
Thanks to everybody.

The bus class lounge in T3 is an absolute disgrace. Don't ever go there.

The Emirates lounge in T1 is MUCH nicer, and as for me, I go to the DCA first class lounge in T1.

Don't believe what others might say.

That certainly should be the case, I'm not aware of anything changing to prevent that happening.

Actually that's still the case and always was.

This is from the Skywards website about who cn access the biz class lounge in T3.

"Emirates Business Class Lounge Terminal 3: If travelling in Business Class and Skywards Gold Members travelling in Economy Class."

Food during Ramadan, of course. It is not only for non-Moslems but there are conditions underwhich Moslems to not need to fast; travel is one of them.
For the more enlightened, there is some humor here. Obviously this dates from the times of camel and hours travel, but First Class on a A 380. Yes!!!

Wow - a bit of an over dramatic response...

It's only busy some of the day - 5am-10am. Other times it's fine. I was there a few weeks ago at about midday and it was perfect. So, for anyone travelling back to Europe on the lunchtime bank of flights, there isn't a problem.

I agree that the old lounges were probably nicer, but I wouldn't trek all the way to T1.

Cheers,
Rick

Showering rooms is a joke in the EK J lounge in DXB in the early hours of the morning (0500 to 0800)!

Best times to shower are in the late afternoons and early evenings where the lounge has probably the least pax.

As for food, it's always available but if you visit the lounge often enough, you will realise it's more or less the same variety.

Thanks to everybody.

:-:
3 hours! You can walk between the two lounges in 15-20 minutes. So assuming you get off your flight on time you could be at T1 lounge with 2.30 hours to spare. Recommend you leave T1 with an hour to spare so that would give you 1.5 hours in the lounge to relax rather than battling outside...

Only my suggestion!
