Planning on taking this flight next month to connect in DXB to EK380.
Have noticed that according to airlineroute.net this flight is to be withdrawn wef from the start of the summer timetable and the A345 reallocated to the VIE route.
Have noticed that it seems to get cancelled a lot and today's flight is no exception.
Is this due to light loads? Is this a bad flight to pick would I be safer with EK106 . Want to use EK104 as it has suites in F whereas EK106 is a A332 with no suites.
Will be connecting from LHR and will have restricted J class ticket on BA to ATH so if close to departure will be unable to switch to earlier BA flight so as to connect to EK106.
How far in advance does EK make these decisions? . As visit is short do not want to get switched to next days EK106 plus overnight in ATH.
Views as to best & safest option please.

EK cancels this flight quiet often due to very light loads(especially in the premium cabins) ever since the economic downturn in Greece and the problems that have come along with it.
The afternoon A330 service is never cancelled so I would suggest to be in ATH in the morning so that incase the later flight is cancelled then you can jump over to EK 106 which leaves at 15:50 and connect onwards to EK 384 to HKG so you will not need to overnight in DXB.
There is no way to know if the evening service is cancelled or not in advance. Such decisions are usually made 12 - 24 Hrs prior to the start of the DXB - ATH leg of this flight.
F is mostly empty in the afternoon flight. Atleast this has been the case in the last 4 - 5 months.

Thank you ELITEGOLDTRAVELLER for your always informative advice.
I was looking at 16 March ex ATH and as of last night the flight was wide open. Then when I looked again today it was zeroed out in all classes and Emirates Reservations confirmed cancellation. Seems as though they have almost given up on operating this flight for the remainder of its life to 25 March.
It noe seems that it has been revised to a Tues/Fri only operation in March but from what you say this is still suspect.
Will get to ATH early enough to switch onto EK106. Pity they do not operate the A345 on the EK106 instead of the A332.
