Emirates online booking functionality?

Hi,

I am based in India. I am planning to book an Emirates flight BOM-DXB-IAH round trip on the Emirates website.

I will be travelling in economy and buying the ticket online with a credit card.

Can you please tell me how good the functionality is for MODIFYING a booking?

For example, I may want to change my date of travel...can I do it online, and pay the necessary charges?

Can I 'offload' myself online, e.g. let us say I check in for a flight leaving in 24hours. Then within the 24 hour period, I decide to change my date of travel, can I do that?

What else can or can't I do with my online booking on Emirates.com?

Thanks,

you have to call them up if you want to change a booking's date. what you can do is try and book an upgrade, manage your meals/preferences, stuff like that

No, you can't make any changes online. These have to be done by calling EK. If you change dates, that will be INR 2000 which you can pay at the airport, I think.

Ung1 is true as long as your ticket is economy saver. However, if you buy an economy flex ticket, still you have to make the changes by calling EK hotline, however, the changes will be free.

Seat and meal selections, upgrade requests etc can be done online, though I managed to get upgrades only by phone, never through the website.

While that is true for redemptions, revenue tickets do not necessarily have free changes. It depends on the booking class, and while usually free out of DXB, the fee out of India where the OP is originating is usually INR 2000.

Thanks for the replies. I have not purchased the ticket as yet but it will likely be an economy saver if available.

Thanks
