Thanks for your amazing prompt reply ung1

I would have liked to have booked row 6 on the 777, but these are either already allocated (and have been from when I initially booked quite some time ago, and the entire row is unavailable), or blocked ??? if they are blocked is this taken off at any stage do you know?

Sure - and welcome to FT!

Row 6 is a designated bassinet row and is blocked till T-24 when online check in opens.

Oh, that makes sense now . . . will keep my fingers crossed for availability at check-in, hopefully will have access to a computer at T-24.

Thanks again . . . . .

You should be alright. A lot of people like 23 A/K because they're at the front of the mini cabin. A bit close to the bar but not too close. If you want a quieter experience, move to the front of the forward cabin. If you want to spend all your time at the bar, then you're ok.

On a recent trip on an EK A380 overnight from LHR-DXB I reserved 23K following the positive recommendations on this forum. For those who are tall, I can provide one warning which I have not seen elsewhere: Beware of this seat. It is actually shorter, with less leg room than the standard business class seat on the EK A380. Fortunately I was able to switch to 25K which was fine.

This would not be an issue on a daytime sector when you don't wish to have the seat in flat bed mode and stretch out.

FWIW, I have never been bothered by activity at the bar on my three or four sectors in the rear J class cabin. YMMV.

Thanks for the warning tallboy . . . do you mean there is even less legroom than the aisle rows? and by how much would you think it is shorter?

Can anyone else confirm this? I have been in both of these seats a few months ago and wasn't conscious of any difference (but then the visits to the bar might have contributed to that) and I've just booked 23A for an upcoming trip.

Been on 23A twice and seats in the front cabin a few times and haven't noticed a difference, slept just fine.

Just to clarify, it is only 23K that I can attest has less legroom ~ did not examine 23A as there was someone sitting there on that trip, but I would imagine it may be the same.

As to whether you might notice it and / or be inconvenienced by it, I am 195cm tall, so certainly noticed the difference, where others who are closer to the norm may not. However, it is apparent if you do a visual inspection of 23K and the seats around it ~ there is less room in the foot well than other 'standard' seats. I didn't have a tape measure so can't say exactly what the variation is, but would guess it is in the order of 10 to 15cm.

I would imagine that if you are 185cm or less it will not be an issue for you.

Which seat in F?

I'm travelling from SIN-BNE (EK432) and then MEL-SIN (EK405) in F. The website says they have the private suites in F but after reading a couple posts, am not too sure. Also, can anyone recommend which seat would be best on these flights? Thanks!

With the F cabin it really depends on the loads (which are usually low on these flights). You're likely to have half the cabin to yourself, so get whatever you want once onboard. Use one seat to sit and the other to sleep.

The Suites are fairly equivalent. Row 1 has a more private feel to it because there is nothing in front whereas Row 2 is further from the galley (but a bit too close to J). Also, both F restrooms are on the A/E side meaning you have to walk through the galley if in F/K seats. And definitely a window seat if travelling alone.

Hi Firemansam, welcome to FT

It is early days for Easter and equipment can change.

As it stands EK 406/407 is operated with the new aircrafts having the new interior. For Australia/NZ you are almost guaranteed new equipment on all routes.

For HAM, I will assume you meant EK 59/62 as EK58 is the inbound from DUS. As it stands new 77Ws as well.

You might be in luck, rumour has it that EK406/407 DXB-MEL-AKL-MEL-DXB will likely upgrade to the A380 by March 2012

EK seem to have lighter Y loads than QF on most of the routes that I fly- PER to Western Europe or Africa, via DXB. On EK421 and 424 often have 3- 4 seat blocks empty at the back of the plane. YMMV.

A question- my next flight is PER-DXB-ACC-FNA

The 777LR is good, and I can sleep in the J seats well. DXB-ACC is showing a 343, with "sleeperettes"- ExpertFlyer is showing no seat power in J- Is this correct?

Also to Emirates777 ^ for the great work. Would your crystal ball be able to find out if the 343 fleet will get the latest generation of J seats any time soon?

Thanks all

Mike_Gee
