Diverted flights

With the London airports being closed today, most flights were diverted to Glasgow. The A380's have been diverted to Hamburg and Paris. Just wondering why they weren't sent to Manchester which is open and obviously can handle the A380? If I'd been diverted to Hamburg I'd be pretty upset (I see it is not leaving there to Heathrow till 3pm tomorrow). No doubt there is a sensible reason for this but I am not sure what it could be.

Unsure about LHR & LGW I know the 777s went up to Glasgow.
The Birmingham flight EK039 was diverted to Newcastle, I suspect the reason Manchester was not used was was the weather seemed to be heading that way and they might not of been able get them up again when the other Airports opened.

Unsure when BHX closed or even if it opened this this morning, at 11:30 There were a number of aircraft stacked in a holding patten when EK039 joined the stack, at that time they were waiting for an anticipated reopen of BHX, when BHX Tower advised BHX would now not open until 13:00 at the earliest.

Most aircraft left the stack except EK039 who was advised at 12:15 that BHX would now not open until 15:00 at the earliest and diverted to Newcastle landing before 13:00 at 14:30 I understand EK039 taxied out to wait for clearance that BHX had opened when the opening time got put back another hour.

The flight crew must have then been out of hours so the passengers for Birmingham have an overnight as I suspect with the weather there is no chance of busing them down from Newcastle.

Flight now scheduled to depart Newcastle 8:00 tomorrow and then today's EK040 is scheduled for a 10:30 departure tomorrow.

BHX re opened at 18:00, EK 037 landed a little late at about 19:15, expecting it to depart soon, problems with ground movements at the moment with all aircraft having to follow the "Follow Me" vehicles.
