Baggage Interline at SYD

Hi there,

I will be arriving into SYD from CHC on an Emirates flight. 3 hours and 20 mins later I will be boarding an Etihad flight to Abu Dhabi ex SYD. The reason for swapping carriers was due to limited availability on Emirates at the time of booking for the SYD-AUH sector.

My question is, will I be able to check my bags all the way through to Abu Dhabi in CHC or will I have to clear customs, collect my bags and re-check in SYD to board my Etihad flight?

I am an Australian citizen so visas are not an issue in SYD, more the convenience of not having to spend an hour or so in queues!

Many thanks.

As far as I'm aware Etihad and Emirates have no interlining agreements, so you have to get bags and recheck in.
