Nope, just looked again, and still no gift ! Maybe they are just going to upgrade Mrs. Tezzer on our return from the Far East on Friday morning, that would be MORE than enough to make me happy, as I am going to give her my seat up the front, and I'll sut down the back for once !

Yup, I agree - am still waiting for the 4th tier news. No one has received an invitation yet?

EGT, with 300k+ you should be among the target segment, right?

Got mine this morning:
Eligible tier miles earned between
25 October and 15 December 2010 Bonus Skywards Miles you earn*
15,000 - 19,999 5,000 Bonus Miles
20,000 - 24,999 7,500 Bonus Miles
25,000 and above 12,000 Bonus Miles

..no 10k bonus or other offer. Still, mustn't grumble. I didn't expect anything. Chances are my flying is done for this year, but it's nice to have just in case.

Spoke with Skywards Gold Desk to try to get some information on the 4th tier but nothing doing.

It does seem however as though the new tier will be sector based. If this is the case and excludes local traffic it makes no sense. You can fly 45 sectors in J from KHI - DXB cost of return J class fare is US$720 you will earn around 2,000mile per sector. So for 45 sectors you earn 90,000mile and EK earn US$32,4000. Compare this to someone making 10 long haul flights JFK - DXB cost of J class return fare is US$9,500. So for 10 sectors you earn 150,000miles and EK earn US$95,000. If the scheme is to be believed the numbers do not add up.

This severely disadvantages customers based in DXB, because the marginal cost of purchasing a ticket from elsewhere is often negative, while netting you two extra sectors. For example, SIN-CMB-DXB-JFK costs less than DXB-JFK in J, and also requires that you do one third the trips.

However, this is common business in the airline industry. Ofcourse you make it attractive to costumers from secondary markets, over your home market. As you will expect your primary market citizens to preffer you over competition.

Hi Guys,

I hope Im not offending anyone at all by asking this...but what type of jobs do you guys have to be able to do so much travel? Ive just graduated from an engineering course and would really LOVE to complete the amount of miles posted by some of the members here - obviously I've just finished University so I don't have money to fly J or F but I was wondering if anyone here had any ideas?

Not really the thread for your question, but anyway - there's a thread on the BA forum with lots of replies from people. I'm not someone with the kind of flying pattern of people on here, but I definitely wouldn't want to be doing 300,000 miles a year. If I had to, sure in F over Y, but there's really no charm when you do it that frequently.

So, get a job where you eventually earn enough to spend the money, or rack up some miles - at least that way it feels special.

Got mine last night:

15,000 - 19,999 5,000 Bonus Miles
20,000 - 24,999 7,500 Bonus Miles
25,000 and above 12,000 Bonus Miles

I only hit gold a few months ago, so I say that they're just rolling out the offer slowly. Perhaps not wanting to be flagged as spam.
