Question A380 upgrade advice please

Hi,

Thanks for all the great info on here everyone.

I had to change my return flight today. Currently in BKK. Purchased an econ tkt NCL-BKK July 12th with return date of 12th Oct. Cost 759 pounds online( I thought expensive!). Now I need to return Friday 17th Sept. EK say flights are really busy and waitlisted me in Econ. They want an additional 383 pounds as its a higher Y class fare inc the date change fee. J class would be 1000 pounds.
I'm thinking I might pay the biz fare and use some miles to upgrade the BKK-DXB leg to F. I'm interested in comments as I'm paying with my own money... Thanks everyone

If you read through these boards you'll see multiple accounts of Emirates switching their A380 service from BKK-DXB down to a 77W instead.

Come the end of October they drop the A380 from that route.

So if it was me I wouldn't pay the extra if you are only doing it because of the A380

or even worse a 777-300 that has very old F and J seats and no ICE.

I'd be hesitant to upgrade into the unknown esp as the A380 is soon to leave that route

We missed the A380 DXB to BKK due to eqpt chance and were lucky to be able to switch from the old style 300 to a 77W that had suites by taking the earlier flight to SYD. But it was just luck and we didn't know what was really happing until we checked in.

I understand that the entire fleet of 777-300 (not 77W) have been furbished and sport new J and F seats and certainly ICE....
