Date Changes

Hi All
Over the last 12 months i have made 2 date changes with emirates, 1 for my GF who changed her date by 2 weeks and 1 for myself with was just adding a extra day to a holiday, The first date change for my GF was Ł20 which was payable at the airport check in and when i changed a date, I done it for free.

Speaking to emirates, I have been told that any date change would be Ł75 as explained on the T&C and yes it states those Charges.
Emirates told me that the Ł75 is the same for all Date changes.

The fare i bought was one the cheapest fares at Ł537 return (man -Bkk) I just wonder if it depends on who you are talking to on the other end of the Phone..

Has anyone made changes just by using the web site? and if so, do you pay for the change on line?

The date change fee will depend on your ticket fare class. The fee is mentioned in the fare rules and whilst it is usually Ł75 ex-uk it can vary. There is nothing the agent can do to modify it, only the manager can waive in special circumstances.

Majority of DXB issued flex tickets have anytime changes free.

Change fees can vary wildly depending on country of origin.

The fee for India-originating itineraries is usually a very reasonably INR 2000 (about USD 40), but the corresponding fee from the USA for a reciprocal itinerary can be as much as USD 200. For the most part however USD 50 to USD 150 equivalent seems to be the norm.

It's also been my experience that Emirates "forgets" to charge the change fee about half the time.

I've changed my SIN-MEL tickets often. They are flex fares and normally in the SGD$700-$1000 range. The change fee is standard - SGD$100

I don't think I've ever had it waived, mainly because the airport check-in staff at both SIN and MEL are 3rd party drones (ie not EK staff) and simply follow orders.

I've got no real issue, as it was a request I made and therefore I think I should pick up the cost...

When my GF was told to pay the Ł20 at check in, we totally forgot about the money on check in and we where not even asked for it, So it might be down to the people not looking and asking for payment.
I just wonder if the payment was for Ł75, the payment would have to be made over the phone.
