Emirates and the Ash Cloud
After the first disruptions on the Ash Cloud, I finally managed to get on a flight to Dubai. Flew First and was given an economy class meal with the grumpiest most horrific crew ever. Each compaining that they got stuck in the UK. This was the first sector of 4 in First which were not any better. I really feel that I should never fly Emirates again.

Welcome to Flyertalk Tifosi 2010. Given your obviously extensive annual travel patterns I am sure many of us will be able to glean much from you as time progresses. However, more details about your actual experiences and conclusions would help us all to better understand your loss of faith in Emirates who, although not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, are better than many carriers.

Tifosi 2010,
OMG!
This was like a worldwide crisis... it wasnt EK that only suffered. Whether you were F/J or Y just be thankful you got home and stop whining. Looking at your memberships it seems like your extremely experienced.
...So I am sure your aware of UNFORESEEN circumstances that may occur. The cabin crew are only human as well. They can complain for being stranded as well you know....5/6 days is a long time!
What more do you expect from EK at such a time to satisfy you.... the EK staff to physically use their own breath to blow the ash clouds away... god! In such times the when the flights/airports/catering companies are so busy and overwhelmed with backlog there will be slight hiccups.... This does not mean that one can assume the all flights in future will be the same with regards to service.
I question whether you really are a gold with all these programmes? because gold to me means experienced traveller.

Experienced or inexperienced, there is always an expectation.
Ofcourse crew are human and can be flustered but why should they take it out on me, the paying customer. Everybody has good days and bad days but on bad days they should not take it out on their clients. Maybe EK can be forgiven for the first sector leaving London (where I am based by the way); what about the rest of the sectors? Dub-KL-Dub-Lon (span of 10 days)?
The sad thing is that the more an experienced traveller you are the less likely you tolerate and the more you are prone to expect out of an airline.
Experienced travellers want to be treated with respect with key activities (like a meal service) done efficiently and then be left alone. Experienced travellers do not keep pressing the call button for another glass of champagne. All I want is consistency based on the service I have purchased, is that really asking for much? I don't think so.

Experienced traveller to me does not mean grin and bear it; I am afraid quite the contrary.
rameezm, I am prone to think that you are a cabin attendant... One who even goes on strike maybe

I think we have a recurring pattern here.. the only difference here folks is that this is a new thread.. and Tifosi does have a point
I understand some of us don't want to be told otherwise but voila.. ! (Where was the ash between KL and DXB - Go Figure!). Tifosi, the only point I wanted to make was since you were in F - you needn't have to spell everything out unless it was a pax who kept tapping the call bell for more booze.
Point to note: EK's standards inflight are on the decline .. and I don't foresee it changing for the better. EK's inflight service is inconsistent.
EK set the bar so high initially / in the past for service (inflight) - that while their standards vary / drop - they still are ahead of most carriers.
