miles expiring, problems.....suggestions?

Hi all,

I have 117k miles on emirates skywards, of which 24k are expiring at the end of this month. I have 2 questions.

1) If i spend 24k miles, the "expiring" miles will be used up right? Or do i have to spend all of my miles?

2) I really wanted the samsonite pro-DLX spinner bag on the emirates high street, but a week after i saw it i tried to order it and it wasnt on the website anymore

I've been trying to book reward tickets, but every time i try and book one it says on the website that date/flight not available. how far in advance do you have to book reward flights??

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to FT afhstingray!

Yes, the expiring miles will be the first to be used up.

At what stage of the process does it say the flights are not available? When I log in on emirates.com and search for awards, it shows me the availability for different awards on different flights and I'm able to select flights and view the screen with miles + taxes. Have never gone beyond that screen though. Maybe you should call up Skywards if you continue to have problems.
