Accommodation for long Stopover
Hi,
I'm flying from Brisbane to Tehran stopping over at Dubai over the night both on outbound and inbound. I would like to know if I can go to the city and also if I'll be given a hotel (and which hotel) for the night.
Flight details:
Outbound:
Departing Brisbane Friday 02:45 Arriving Dubai Friday 13:00
Departing Dubai Saturday 07:55 Arriving Tehran Saturday 10:35
Inbound:
Departing Tehran Friday 11:40 Arriving Dubai Friday 13:10
Departing Dubai Saturday 10:25 Arriving Brisbane Sunday 6:40
Thanks,
Mansoor

Hi,
1) Incase travelling Y then it has to be the Millennium Hotel if in the premium cabin then it will be Le Meridien Hotel.
2) Pls do chk with EK Callcentre that your fare type allows the hotel during the layover. BTW you will need to have a hotel voucher from EK so will have to call them in any case.

You are only entitled if the connecting flight was the theoretical first flight possible. If the threadopener chose intentionally to have this stop over, you are not entitled.

In certain cases where an itinerary calls for a long stopover in Dubai, Emirates will cover accommodation, meals and ground transportation costs.
Economy Class passengers
If the booking class for the entire outbound or inbound leg of their journey is N, M, E, W, or Y.
If the connection time until the first available flight is more than 8 hours and less than 24 hours.
Your flights are not the most direct from Brisbane to Tehran and back, so I doubt you will qualify.
However, you can buy a Stopover on Arrival package. Prices start from as low as USD 45 per person per night.

If you wanna be next to the airport try these guys -> http://global.premierinn.com/gcc/hot...-hotels.action
Its supposed to be AED 375 /night and they seem to be open. If you stay there, please post a review here /w pix and welcome to FlyerTalk
The whole process takes X minutes and costs $X ( sorry I have no idea how long it takes or if the hotel rates are competitive )

Hmmm, sounds ridiculous to me. Whether intentioal or not, does Emirates expect me to sleep in the airport for nearly 20 hours?!
Why would Emirates website allow me to choose this combination if they are not going to provide proper service?
Considering the price of the ticket, you would expect better service.

I really fail to see how you can blame Emirates for your choice in not taking the shortest connection. Why should they pay for you to spend a night in Dubai when it is not dictated by their timetable/ticket price. I frequently fly LGW/MEL and have on occasion opted to spend a night in Dubai to break the journey but I certainly do not expect Emirates to pay for my hotel on those occasions.

Only flown Emirates once, in Y to Australia - they provided a hotel in Dubai on the outbound as the earliest connection time offered was more than 7 hours, but it was a shorter connection on the inbound so no hotel.
Judging from your previous posts you chose to stopover and so you have to provide your own accommodation. I have no idea why you would expect otherwise?

As was mentioned, you have to take the first available connecting flight and that first available flight has to be at least 8 hours later if travelling in economy class (fare codes mentioned above) to qualify for a hotel. Emirates is very generous to offer this service to people in economy. Travelling from San Francisco to Nairobi on BA requires 23 hours of transit time in London and they provide nothing to give you a comparison. Also, note that if you have an Iranian passport you will need to get a visa for Dubai in advance of arrival or you will not be able to leave the airport. Your only options for accommodation in that case would be the hotel inside the terminal. With a Western European/Australian/US passport, you can exit the airport without a prearranged visa. Most EK tickets on this route only charge AUD75 to change them, so if you don't think it is worth it to spend the money for accommodations in Dubai, it would be cheaper to just call EK and change your ticket to one with a shorter connection.
