Took my first flight as Silver a few days ago and thought I'd post some details about the experience.

Was a little disappointed to have not received my membership package even three weeks after qualifying, but that didn't seem to be an issue.

Got to the airport super early try out the lounge, so there was a bit of a line at the Silver check in. BP had the lounge invitation printed on it. I had not been looking forward to the trek to T1 and then back to T3 for boarding, but luckily for me the flight was at gate 123 (right opposite the lounge).

The lounge was pretty busy, but still a lot nicer than being outside. Was able to get a table, though it took a long time for someone to come and clear up what had been left on it. Very wide variety of food, though some of the breakfast options could have done with an improvement in quality. Lots to drink, though it was 8 am, so I didn't try much. The Veuve Cliquot was very nice indeed.

When I eventually went to the boarding gate, they were boarding zones J and K or something. Asked if they were boarding Silver and they let me through, though I didn't see any indication on the remaining part of my boarding pass about my status. Still had to queue up for a long time outside the aircraft, but once inside as I was in forward Y, lots of time to put carry ons in over head bins and get settled before other pax boarded. One very nice touch was "Welcome back Mr. ung1" by the FA checking bp at the aircraft door. Don't know whether they say this to everyone or whether he assumed I had status because they weren't boarding my zone.

Flight was pleasant enough. For the first time flying EK I wasn't able to get a bulkhead or emergency exit seat despite checking in 3 hrs before dep. The agent said something about limited seat allocation, whatever that is. I guess a regular aisle seat isn't too bad. Watched lots of movies, ate lots of food, waited for 20 minutes for them to find my jacket! I thought that was ridiculous - I could have been home in that much time. First I had to ask and they said it would be up front, then they got the wrong one.
