Why are some flights diverted to Larnaca today:

- OS0857: from vienna via larnaca
- LY612 from Moscou via Larnaca

Any info?

One of the biggest sandstorm that have ever happened in Sinai caused a lot of fog which makes the lansings in TLV be hard then ever.

Some flights were able to land while other sent to larnaca.

SDV airport is now closed, and all the flights who were support to land in it moved to TLV.

Yours, Gal.

The word is Haze, not Fog. Everything is yellow outside and visibility is very low.

Now the sky is clear tonight, landing shouldn't be a problem at TLV...

TLV was not closed yesterday. Because of the haze and the wind they increased the spacing between flights and on the afternoon "rush hour" 4 flights (3 LY, 1 OS) were diverted to LCA - probably because they were short on fuel and could not wait in the air for long. Landings were on 26 because of the strong wind. Other than the 4 flights, all other flights arrived TLV as planned.
Those 4 flights arrived TLV 2-3 hours later than scheduled.

Anyway, the haze is over, now were in for a stormy weekend...
