Israir "premium" class

Like some others, I am posting here since Israir is not large enough to have a forum - plus they DON'T have a FF program.

My boss "suggested" that I book a premium seat from NYC to Tel Aviv on Israir rather than business class on Continental, primarily for the $2,000 savings round trip. ($3,600 vs $5,600) I have seen nothing but negative news about this airline. I called them and they tell me that their premium seats fully recline and they have 24 seats in a 2/2/2 configuration. I looked at other airlines seat maps and this doesn't look too bad. I had to call them because they do not provide seat maps on their web site. I also tried to e-mail them and their contact e-mail (which I cut and paste) came back as an invalid web site. LOL

So, has anyone else flown "premium" class in their Airbus 330-223? I know the 767 was a nightmare but have not seen anything on the 330.

Thanks!

Welcome to FlyerTalk, mereshadow!

I'm sorry, but I've never flown Israir and can't imagine flying on an airline where I can't earn miles or points! *gasp*

welcome
I had a very bad exprience (spellcheck?) with Israair from TLV to Eilat.
The ground stuff was very bad.
Since then I fly only Arkia to Eilat and I am not going to fly with them
to NY for any price.

I will be happy to learn about the service they provide in the sky.

Sorry for the very brief response:

- The Israir premium class is in no way comprable to CO Business Elite, or El Al Platinum.

- I'd think of it is a Premium Economy + type product. I had a fun experience last year flying them, but it wasn't comprable, nor was I expecting a true business class like El Al or CO to TLV.

- The seats maybe have 40' pitch, they do have legrests and perhaps a 130 degree recline, although my memory is hazy. Somewhat similar to domestic first class on an American carrier with the exception of a legrest and more recline. Food was not bad at all, althougth the service was a bit like a charter flight.

If it was last year, it was probably on 767, now they have a A330 with supposedly upgraded seats.

My friend was on their "new" Airbus aircraft. He said that it was like a premium economy product. He said that the service and food was of extremely low quality and that he felt foolish for paying so much because he could have used his AMEX points to just upgrade an economy class fare on El Al.

I had a fine experience with them SDV-ETH, but security issues on the way back from ETH and their overall service there was sketchy. I have never flown them internationally due to the lack of a FFP.
