TLV ticket
Hi guys,
I'm looking to get a ticket from NYC to TLV roundtrip, leaving March 30th and coming back April 11th (around passover). Unfortunately all fares today are around $1400 (coach, of course) or more, and that's not an option...
Am I searching wrong, and is there cheaper somewhere? Do you have a tip on what to do? That would be much appreciated, spending passover in TLV is just something else!
Thanks!

You picked an expensive time to fly to Israel but you might want to look at Alitalia and Czech Air, generally they have among the cheapest flights.

From London at least, people book a year in advance, or as soon as the tickets go on sale for Passover.
And if you are not one of the first, you end up paying over $1000 which is what the tickets are at the moment with LY. (which kind of makes the NYC-TLV fare seem reasonable...)
The cheapest Economy BA ticket from London for these dates is currently almost $1600!
I am so happy I managed to get a couple of seats with BA using miles for the exact same dates (30-11) as soon as they became available, 12 months before!
Trying to use LY miles at this time is impossible even if you try booking a year in advance.
I don't believe for one second they open any redemptions seats from London for this period.

I think you have left it way to late I'm afraid...

I have not managed it for 3 years on the London route despite all my efforts and forward planning.
If one tried to book these seats at the minimum time they are meant to open and yet told, there is nothing available, I need no further proof then that.
Last year and the year before I got the seats with matmid points from AMS, no problem at all. (and could have done the same from CDG, BRU etc).

You might want to separate this into 2 tickets - try to find a bargain to Europe and then find a flight to TLV. Early April is still the low season in many European countries and there might be bargains there.
