Transfer MR from Amex to use a Quantas fligth?
Can this be done?
I am about to enroll with ElAl program and then ask amex to transfer points from membership rewards in order to take a flight from LAX to SYD.
Is this possible??
Thanks

Amex can transfer points to ElAl.

Look at the redemption charts and hold the QF award before you transfer or you may transfer only to find no availability.

LY's cooperation with Qantas is more about the Far East - Australia routes, less about N. America - Australia routes. LY has QF rewards only on the following routes:
Australia - New Zealand
Australia - India
Australia - Asia
Australia - Europe
Australia - South Africa
Domestic Australia

Is it possible to use Qantas miles to book flights on LY? If so, can anyone reference me with an idea of how many miles it would take (exe. JFK-TLV or PEK-TLV)?

Yes, but what that has to do with this thread is beyond me.
If you're using Amex miles, LY is a huge waste of them.
If you're using QF, still unsure why you'd use LY on either of those routes...but, if you insist,
One-way Y C F, All x 2 for round-trips
TLV-JFK 35,000 65,000 95,000
TLV-PEK 42,000 78,000 114,000

Why not use them on BA? Much nicer experience. Same (less?) miles.
And I'm no expert on the QF award chart, so I'm not sure - but the way I read it, yes, you can.

TLV-Asia: fair enough.
TLV-New York: I'd venture that it's totally worth the stop at LHR (which is on the way), if you can get Club World or FIRST.
Also, have you considered heading to CC?
Certainly to the US, you might be able to finagle some DL/CO/NW miles to use on their nonstops. DL is sending a few 77Ls out that way, which will be very ncie in J.
And you could always use *A miles and go AC J, which is also quite respectable (but, as you mentioned, requires the layover).
