Flights to Toronto

Do we know if El Al is ever planning on restarting service to Toronto (cut in 2022)? It's been challenging to travel to Canada throughout the war, and I believe there is more than sufficient demand in the Greater Toronto Area...

I don't believe this is on their radar for the moment.
It goes without saying that axing Toronto was an extremely short-sighted move by them.

Hopefully they do re-start the YYZ flights and, for that matter, YUL as well, which also has plenty of demand for Israel.

air canada has delayed (again and for a huge interval) their TLV service.

it would be nice if they were offering easier ticketing over EWR/JFK with PD/DL/AA.

Not any more or less complicated and expensive than operating New York or whatever other destination.

Prior to COVID, even when AC was running 767s on the TLV route, LY was still at a massive disadvantage because ACs were modern with a proper lay-flat J cabin, while LY was still with the old 90's 90s-era cabin.
Even when LY moved to the 787's, AC had been flying the mto TLV for almost 8 years.
Combine that with the awful timings of the YYZ route: 00:30 departure from TLV, arrival into YYZ around 6am, departing YYZ around 1:30pm, arriving into TLV around 6am, they simply couldn't capture enough of the market.

If they came back to Canada, they would need to ensure a solid code-share and interline with Porter (already in place to some extent), reciprocal frequent flier benefits, and a more suitable schedule conducive to connections.

Example, if they planned to arrive in YYZ around 3pm, and depart again around 6pm, it would offer the best possibility of capturing connections from all over Canada.

Anyways, I doubt they will return anytime soon. Sadm but true.
