Serving tongs are there to be used

I'm just look for opinions. I was in the King David Lounge on 25/7 in advance of the LY001 flight on the 26th. There was a man who was busy digging into the slices of hard cheese with his fingers. There was a pair of tongs on the plate but apparently he felt so "at home" that he just dug in! He did this more than once, returning to the buffet each time to take a piece of cheese, stuff it in his mouth and sit down and then repeat. Frankly it was disgusting.

I did nothing but avoid the cheese. Should I have said something to one of the workers. --just curious. The world didn't end with my not having cheese, but... yuck!

A person who digs in with his fingers on public food would not give a hoot if you pointed out to him what he was doing.
Certain personality traits go together.
Then imagine he has the seat next to you on your way to NY for 10 hours.

THAT was definitely a fear of mine! Thank goodness if he was on my flight he wasn't upstairs on the 747!
