UP Reward and Fare Class Availability

Hello all! Does anyone know if El Al ever releases more award space for UP flights as the departure date nears?

Also, the flight I'm looking at (LCA-TLV) only has UP Smart fares available. As nice as the extra points are and Y+ seating, I'd rather not pay the hefty fare (and I have the Fly Card Premium, so sure to get good seats anyway). Does El Al ever release lower fare buckets?

(And while we're at it: can someone confirm that UP Smart is fully refundable with no fees? They mention some $50 administrative fee, yet elsewhere it says free changes/cancellations.)

I can't answer your questions but you may want to note that LCA-TLV is currently served by as many as eight airlines (ElAl, Israir, Arkia, Aegean, TUS, Cyprus Airways, Blue Air and Cobalt Air), with 6-12 daily flights. Fares tend to be very low (sometimes as low as $50 one-way).

Well unfortunately, I need a flight on a specific day, after a specific time. The only option left is UP, which currently costs 288 EUR from El Al (or 10-20 EUR less via an OTA). I'd really rather not pay such an exorbitant price for a 45-minute one way that would go for $50 were I to fly 2 days later.

I ended up having to cancel the ticket and can confirm that there was no $50 fee for UP Smart. Refund received in about a week.
