777 to Sofia

I noticed that El Al operates a 777 to Sofia, Bulgaria on Fridays.
This could be a very nice way to experience a long-haul business class product for very few points

Anyone ever flown this, and the biggest question of all: why use a 777 on such a short flight?

Well, it's a combination of factors.
mainly: demand for passenger & cargo volume.

LY often uses their widebodies on "short" (Europe) flights when there isn't time to send them on a longhaul flight before Shabbat. This is seen mostly on Friday mornings (772 DME, 763 ATH/FCO/OTP are very common) but other times too (last year had 772 to FCO on Sunday mornings).
